We started our day with Making Words. How many words can you make in 10 minutes from a jumbled word. Then guess the word follows. Wow talk about quiet and competition!! The students had published a plethora of books which they were anxious to share with their parents. We had a great turn out and lots of fun. I modeled a unit on character pushing plot from our Seminars of Critical Literacy. Parents were asked to provide input on concept words when they were promted. I think they were amazed how well their children knew a variety of advanced concepts. We also invited parents to play a game of Homonyms on our Interactive Board. Now this was hilarious for all. Thank you to the brave parents who tried it on.
