Parents and Students Celebrating Literacy

We started our day with Making Words.  How many words can you make in 10 minutes from a jumbled word.  Then guess the word follows.  Wow talk about quiet and competition!! The students had published a plethora of books which they were anxious to share with their parents.  We had a great turn out and lots of fun.  I modeled a unit on character pushing plot from our Seminars of Critical Literacy. Parents were asked to provide input on concept words when they were promted. I think they were amazed how well their children knew a variety of advanced concepts. We also invited parents to play a game of Homonyms on our Interactive Board.  Now this was hilarious for all.  Thank you to the brave parents who tried it on.

Junior Achievement with Mr. Nooren

The students spent 5 weeks learning about how to plan a city.  They had lots of fun and learned a lot about the resources and expertise needed to become a city planner.  Mr. Nooren is a trained expert in Junior Achievement.
